Before Minimalism Became a Trend, Sweden Was Quietly Perfecting It.

In 1956, Sweden was at the forefront of a design movement that would influence the world.

Josef Frank was creating warm, inviting interiors that challenged the rigidity of modernism. Bruno Mathsson was reshaping furniture with graceful, ergonomic curves. Stig Lindberg was transforming everyday ceramics into works of art. Across architecture, furniture, glass, and silver, Scandinavian designers shared a common belief: beautiful objects should be thoughtfully made, functional, and meant to last.

That same philosophy found its way into jewelry.

This moonstone ring was crafted in 1956 by Svedboms Guldsmeds AB of Vetlanda, Sweden, a distinguished Royal Court Jeweler. It bears the maker’s mark ESM, originally associated with founder Ernst Svedbom, whose workshop became known for exceptional Swedish craftsmanship.

There are no unnecessary embellishments here—just a luminous natural moonstone, rich 18-karat gold, and beautifully balanced proportions. Every element serves a purpose, allowing the stone’s soft glow to take center stage.

Nearly seventy years later, it feels just as fresh and relevant as it did when it was first created.
