This Victorian era brooch dates to the late 19th Century and is a delightful example of “en tremblant” jewelry. Literally translating to mean “trembling” the flower head is mounted discreetly on a tightly coiled spring causing it to dance around while worn. Crafted in a
Silver gilt and silver with an old mine cut diamond in the flower and rose cut in each of the pointed leaves. From one end to the other the flower measures 4 1/4 " long and 2 1/2 inches wide . The pin mechanism on the back measures 1-1/2” including the French tube style clasp. So whimsical and lovely, a nice addition to any antique jewelry collection.
Rose-cut vari-shaped diamonds, ap. 29.3 dwts. Total diamond weight approx 3.5ct
Several chips to stones, some tarnish and discoloration to metal, solder visible on reverse.
